Just as the old ox wagons used the area around this hotel as a stopover point, so today's travelers can rest up at the Willow Grange Country Hotel and use it as a home base for onward exploration of the Drakensberg and Midlands surrounds. Directions if you are travelling from Gauteng, take the N3 to Harrismith. At Harrismith turn left onto the N5 to Bethlehem, turn left onto the R74 towards Bergville. Then keep on the R74, travelling past the magnificent Sterkfontein Dam and Little Switzerland. This area is also known as the Oliviershoek Pass. Carry on along the R74 and travel through Bergville, you will then reach Winterton. At the robots just after the "Pig and Plough" turn left onto the main street of Winterton. Keep on the R74 for just over 20 kilometres. Then you will see Exit 94 onto the N3. Continue on the N3 until you reach the South exit to Estcourt or Exit 168. Follow the road to Escourt for approximately one kilometre. Then, turn right onto the R103. Follow this road for about 5 km. You will then note the sign to The Willow Grange Hotel on the left. If you are travelling from Durban, travel on the N3, keep on the N3 until you see the South exit to Estcourt or Exit 168. Turn right at the offramp and follow the road to Escourt for approximately one kilometre. Then, turn right onto the R103. Follow this road for about 5km. You will then note the sign to The Willow Grange Hotel on the left. PRIMARY USE There are a total of 10 thatched rondavels to choose from at the Willow Grange Country Hotel. The rooms are grouped in various similar styles. A breakdown of the 10 rooms are listed below: Rooms 1,4 & 7: Room 1,Bapedi; Room 4,Sekwati; Room 7, Basuto. The layout of these three rondavels is identical, with twin queen size beds made up as a double bed, or two single beds. Tea or coffee facilities in all rooms. The en-suite bathroom has a bath/shower, washbasin and toilet. Heaters or Electric blankets are available. Room 10 Room 10, Zulu This room is a large deluxe thatched rondavel. This rondavel overlooks the swimming pool and offers additional features. The rondavel also comprises twin queen size beds made up as a double or two single beds. An extra bed is available on request. The walk-in dressing room leads into the bathroom with a bath, separate shower, washbasin and toilet. Heater or electric blankets are available. Rooms 2 & 3 Room 2, Needle; Room 3,Pondo. These two are sizeable adjoining family rooms with up to 4 beds each on request, large en-suite bathroom with shower/bath, washbasin and toilet. Rooms 5,6, 8 & 9: Room 5, Bantwani; Room 6, Bapai; Room 8, Xhosa; Room 9, Swazi; These rooms have twin queen size beds made up as double beds or single beds with tea or coffee provided. The bathrooms all have a bath/shower, washbasin and toilet. Heaters and electric blankets are available. DINING Breakfast is included in the rate to stay at Willow Grange Country Hotel. Other meals, such as gala dinners, lunch and dinner can be arranged on request. OTHER FACILITIES: This hotel has a large sparkling pool as well as a substantial dining room and pub that reflects the history of the area. The pub and dining area flow out onto the generous outside veranda, providing stunning views of the bushveld. Substantial braai facilities are available for guests.
